Stansted is built around low cost carriers, which means its passengers are price sensitive by nature and its parking market is competitive as a result. That works in your favour, but only if you book in advance, because the gate price at Stansted is unforgiving.
Stansted charges for pulling up outside the terminal, and travellers sometimes conflate that with the cost of parking. They are separate things. If someone is dropping you off and collecting you, those charges land twice, and for anything longer than a couple of days a booked parking space frequently works out better than paying to be driven both ways.
Competition among the compounds along the M11 keeps advance prices keen, but availability tightens quickly through the summer and half terms. The cheap options are the first to go, and what remains is priced accordingly. Booking six weeks out rather than six days out is the most reliable saving here.
Given the destinations Stansted serves and the length of the typical trip, Park and Ride suits the majority of passengers and prices well. Meet and Greet still has a place for very early departures and for travellers with mobility considerations, but it is worth pricing rather than assuming.
